Bleached Sunflowers

My club LOVES to learn new techniques, and I struggle to come up with new things!  So, I went WAY back–to bleaching!!   For this card, emboss your image (the large sunflower from Celebrate Sunflowers is used here) with black embossing powder on Cajun Craze cardstock.  With a cheap paintbrush, “paint” your sunflower with regular household bleach!  Be patient–it takes a few seconds for the magic to happen!!   This just happened to bleach out to a color that matched our So Saffron cardstock perfectly!

What do you think?!  As you try this, just remember that each color of cardstock will react differently with the bleach–so do a “test” first, if you’re looking for something specific!!  Have fun with it!

I’m entering this in the SUOC #310:  Autumn/Fall!

Here are the products used, along with household bleach:

  1. Beautiful, Tammy, that giant sunflower is so iconic of Fall, lol. And great job with the bleaching – it came out perfectly! So fun to “remind” everyone of these great techniques! Thanks so much for playing at SU Only!

  2. What a pretty card, Tammy! And fun to see what color the cardstock will turn after the bleach is applied. You’re right, I haven’t done this in years! Thanks for playing along with us at SUO Challenges!
